i just bought this bike, it has the recommended jets by ryp. on extended hill climbs my silencer gets so hot it will melt my fender etc. . it has the stock plug, new air filter, coolant full in rad, not sure about timing, maxima 66 to 1 mix/94 octane. should i be running stock jets for trail riding? elevations i ride are sea level to 7000 ft

Make sure your fan is coming on and make sure your radiator is hot on the top and bottom, this confirms the water is being circulated by the impeller. Next, check for the heat shield on the rear fender, it is a silver heat resistant material that is a sticker and is on the rear fender by the exhaust. If all this checks out, you probably just got the exhaust hot enough to burn up all the unburnt oil from the previous owner, who probably never trail road the bike hard.
